private in the Virginia Militia under Captain Michael See.
John & Frances moved their
family from Virginia to Perrysville, Vermillion County, Indiana, in 1832.
Fought in the War of 1812.
Afterwards a farmer.

Her people were from English
stock and were early residents of Pennsylvania. Her grandfather served
in the Revolutionary War and was shot through the breast. He recovered and lived to be nearly 100
years
old and drew a pension from the government. He traced his ancestry to
Ireland. His ancestors were mostly linen weavers by trade.
