from Nancy Hodge to
son John A. Hodge
Recorded Livingston County, Kentucky
March 2, 1840

This Indenture made and entered into this the second day of March 1840 Between Nancy Hodge of the One part and John Hodge of the other part both of the County of Livingston and State of Kentucky Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred dollars in hand paid by the said John Hodge to the said Nancy Hodge the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged the said Nancy Hodge hath this day Bargained Sold and Conveyed and by these presents doth bargain sold and Convey unto the said John Hodge his heirs and assignees forever a certain piece of parcel of land situate lying and being in the County and State of aforesaid on Claylick Creek and bounds as follows, towit Beginning on a line of Banks Military Survey at the west bank of said Creek where said Military line crosses said Creek beginning threne N 70° W 78 poles to an ash & gum in said line, Thence N 40° E 26 poles to a Black Oak thence North 48 poles to a Black Oak and White Oak, thence N 14 W 10 poles to a White Oak and Sugar tree, thence N 28 E 53 poles to a white Oak Thence N 16 E 43 poles to two white Oaks, thence N 28 E 72 poles to two Oaks David Browns line, thence with said line S 43° E 74 poles to the Creek, thence down the Creek with its meanders S 24° W 140 poles to a Sycamore Bank of the Creek thence continuing to meanders South 44 poles to the Beginning Containing Ninety two acres be the same more or less.

To Have and to Hold the aforesaid land and promises to him the said John Hodge his heir & assigees forever, and the said Nancy Hodge doth by these presents forever warrant and defend the Rights and title of said premises to the Said John Hodge his heirs & from the claim or claims of herself her heirs and from the claim of claims of all and every or persons whomever claiming under her

In Testimony whereof the said Nancy Hodge hath hereunto set her hand and Seal the day and year aforesaid

I James S. Dallam clerk of the court for the County and State aforesaid, do hereby certify that the within Deed of conveyance from Nancy Hodge unto John Hodge was on this day produced to use in my office and proven by the oaths of James Duvall & H.R.D. Coleman Subscribing witnesses attest for the act and deed hand and seal of the said Grantor Nancy Hodge for the purposes therein Contained, and Ordered to be Recorded.  Whereupon I have truly Recorded the same and this Certificate in my said office
