Atherton Cemetery
Danville, Illinois



Atherton is located south of Danville on the Perrysville Road.
The burials noted here are in the New Atherton Cemetery.  Directly
behind New Atherton Cemetery is Old Atherton Cemetery and directly
behind Old Atherton Cemetery is Sanhill Cemetery.


Oscar Wilcoxen was the son of Parker Kelley Wilcoxen and
Lucy Ellen Niccum Wilcoxen.  He was born September 4, 1879,
on the Doc Stevenson Place at the top of Tolar Hill.  He died
February 22, 1961.  He was married on November 24, 1909, to
Carrie Ellen Strawser, the daughter of George Milt  and Mahalia Jane (Kerby) Strawser.
Carrie was born July 7, 1891, and died November 28, 1958. 
She was the mother of two sons, Lewis and Dale.
Lewis Oscar Wilcoxen, Oscar & Carrie's son, was born
October 9, 1910, and died November 16, 1929.


Dale Etheridge Wilcoxen was the son of Oscar & Carrie
Wilcoxen.  Dale was born June 25, 1912, and died
September 25, 1995.  He was married February 20, 1938, to
Emelyn Bernice Martin.  Emelyn was born May 3, 1912, and
died March 5, 2002.  She was the mother of two children.
