Macedonia Baptist Church
Newnan, Georgia

Macedonia Baptist Church was the first Church in Coweta County.
This is the second site.  It is located on State Highway 70 (Roscoe Road),
 going North out of Newnan.  The cemetery is adjacent to the church.

(tombstone shows birth year 1824, but other sources indicate 1804)

(obituary gives death date as September 24)

 
Edward Washington Morgan and wife Russa "Etta" Wester Morgan
(son of John & Mary Amanda [Rice] Morgan)
Edward b. March 30, 1851, d. December 23, 1898
Etta b. October 21, 1856, d. February 21, 1935


Catherine Jane Morgan
(daughter of John & Mary Amanda [Rice] Morgan
b. March 13, 1844
d. January 6, 1907

   
Reasen Mobley
(father of Joseph Sheppard & Hezekiah Madison Mobley)
b. December 19, 1809, South Carolina
d. March 22, 1882, Coweta County, Georgia
m.(1) February 23, 1832, to Lucretia Dunkin
m. (2) July 25, 1875 to Martha Ann Cates
Reasen & Lucretia had 6 children, 5 sons and 1 daughter.
They lost 3 sons to the Civil War and their daughter at an early age.
Joseph & Hezekiah also fought in the war, but survived and lived
out their lives in Bastrop County, Texas.
It was at Macedonia Baptist Church that Joseph Mobley was ordained as a Baptist minister.
