Military record: served in CSA in Texas Co. D l2th Texas Cavalry under
Capt. M. B. Highsmith, Bastrop Cav. Co. 26, Brig TST; the muster roll for the Highsmith Company for July 24, 1861,
includes Private Gabriel Lentz In 1905, applied and approved for pension. Cited
broken constitution and kidney disease. He served 4 years from 1861 until
discharge in 1865. Enlisted October 28, 1861. Original application filed in 1903
was not approved.
