McAfee Probate Records



Probate Records pertaining to the Estate of Jacob McAfee
Livingston County, Missouri

In my opinion, the file found in Livingston County Probate Records, Box #1931, is regrettably incomplete.  Only four documents are to be found.  Images and transcripts follow: 

Document 1, transcript:

W. H. Anderson on oath says that Jacob McAfee died without leaving a will at Livingston County, leaving as his heirs Charles M., James, Albert Henry, Jacob A., Eugene C. and George McAfee, all of aforesaid county, excepting Jacob A. living in Caldwell Co. and that he will make a perfect inventory of and faithfully administer the estate of said dec’d and pay the debts as far as the assets will extend and the law direct. and account for and pay all assets which shall come to his knowledge or possession.

Document 2, transcript:

            We William H. Anderson as principal and Jas. W. Anderson & Edward Gudgel as security acknowledge ourselves to owe and be indebted to the state of Missouri in the sum of three hundred dollars given under our hands and seals this 18th day of Oct 1862.

            The consideration of the above bond is that if the said Wm. H. Anderson as administrator of the estate of Jacob McAfee dec’d shall faithfully administer said estate and pay over according to law all money coming into his hands as such administrator then this bond to be void otherwise to remain in full force.

Document 3, transcript:

We William H. Anderson as principal and J. W. Anderson and Zach Blann(?)(sen) as security are held and firmly bound unto the State of Missouri in the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars for payment of which we bind ourselves (?) heirs executing and administrators firmly.  Given under our hands and seals this 3rd Feb 1863.

            The condition of the above bond is such that if the above (?) Wm. H. Anderson shall faithfully discharge the duties of curator of this Estate and Guardian of the person of Charles M., James, Albert, Henry, Jacob A., Eugene C. & George McAfee minor heirs of Jacob McAfee deceased and shall faithfully and punctually pay over and account for all money coming into his hands for the use and benefit of said minors then this bond to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

The County of Livingston
The State of Missouri

    To all persons to whom these presents shall come, Greeting.  Know ye that whereas Jacob McAfee, late of said county died intestate and is said having at the time of his death property in this State which may be lost, destroyed or diminished in value if (?) can be not taken as to same.

    To the end therefore that the said property may be collected, preserved and disposed of according to law, we do hereby (in vacation) appoint William H. Anderson administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of the said McAfee at the time of his death with full power and authority to secure and dispose of said property and collect all money due said deceased and in general to do and perform all other acts and things which are or hereafter may be required of him by law.

    In testimony whereof I hereto sign my name and affix the seal of said court at office in Chillicothe Oct 18, 186(?).  Signed (unreadable), clerk.
