Charles Branton services held Monday
Mr. Charles Edward Branton, who was a native of Alabama, and came
to this area with his parents at the age of five years, departed this life
Saturday afternoon, October 10, 1964, in Fleming Hospital in Elgin, Texas.
Funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in McDade with
Rev. Hylon Vickers and Rev. Malcolm Bane officiating. Burial was in the McDade
Cemetery under direction of Condra Funeral Home of Taylor.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Louis D. Branton, Virgil J. Branton, Phillip D.
Samuelson, Benton Guentzel and Roger Taylor.
Mr. and Mrs. Branton had made their home in Elgin since moving from McDade in
1946.
He was converted into the Christian church at the age of 16 years but united
with the Baptist Church about twenty years ago. He and his wife worshiped in the
First Baptist Church in Elgin until their health began to fail.
Mr. Branton was married October 18, 1896, to the former Sarah Hudler, who
preceded him in death January 18, 1914. To this union was born six children, two
daughters, Mrs. V. D. Taylor and Mrs. A. P. Samuelson, both of Austin and four
sons, Trumer E. Branton of Dallas; Tryon J. Branton and Dell M. Branton, both of
Austin, and Newell J. Branton who preceded him in death September 9, 1964.
On January 3, 1915, Mr. Branton and Mrs. Susie Condra Greenhaw were united in
marriage. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Verna Lee Guentzel of Elgin.
He is survived by his wife, six children and two step-sons, Alton Greenhaw of
McDade and Benton Greenhaw of Austin; one sister, Mrs. Dora Scott of San Marcos,
and two brothers, Nick Branton and Byron Branton, both of Austin. Also 21
grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Interment was in the McDade Cemetery.
C. E. Branton
Elgin--Funeral services were held Monday morning at the First Baptist Church in
McDade for C. E. Branton, 88, retired farmer who died in a local hospital.
The Rev. Hylon Vickers and the Rev. Malcolm
Bane officiated. Burial was in McDade Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters,
Mrs. V. D. Taylor of Austin, Mrs. A. T. Samuelson of Austin and Mrs. Verna Lee
Guentzel of Elgin; three sons, Trumer Branton of Dallas, Tryon Branton and Dell
Branton, both of Austin; two step-sons, Denton Grenhaw of Austin and Elton
Grenhaw of McDade; a sister, Mrs. Dora Scott of San Marcos and two brothers,
Nick Branton of Austin and Bryon Branton of Austin; and 21 grandchildren.

Lucile Samuelson
Lucile Samuelson, 77, of Austin died Sunday.
She had been a long time, active member of Hyde Park Baptist
Church.
Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Colonial Chapel of
the Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery.
Mrs. Samuelson was the mother of Phillip D. Samuelson and
Alberta Viola, both of Austin; sister of Modean Taylor and Vernon V. Guentzel
both of Austin, and Dell Branton and Alton Greenhaw both of McDade; grandmother
of Caryn Cluiss, Steve Samuelson and Lisa Samuelson all of Austin; and
great-grandmother of Diane Cluiss also of Austin.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in
memorials to the Hyde Park Baptist Church Building Fund.
(Lucile Branton Samuelson was the daughter
of Charles Edward Branton and Sarah Ellen Hudler. She died in August of
1983.)

Tryon Branton
Stephenville--Tryon
Joseph Branton, 79, of Stephenville died at 8:25 a.m. Friday in Stephenville
Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in
Lacy Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Emil Becker will officiate, assisted by the Rev. James
Gillispie.
Additional services will be a 4 p.m. in McDade First Baptist
Church.
Burial will be in McDade Cemetery.
Born July 6, 1898, in Bastrop County, he was a retired employee
of Southern Union Gas Corp. and had lived here since 1970, moving from Austin.
He married Faith Hodge Oct 16, 1930, in Elgin. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Jo Butler of
Stephenville; three brothers, B. M. and Alton Greenhaw, both of McDade and L. B.
Greenhaw of Austin; three sisters, Modene Taylor, Lucille Samuelson and Verna
Lee Guentzel, all of Austin; and a grandson.
The family requests remembrances be in the form of contributions
to First Baptist Church.
