Purchased in a Smithville, Texas, antique shop.
This envelope contains an 8-page letter from Ruby Tramp
to Pvt. Clyde L. Plumlee, postmarked Cheyenne, Wyoming,
September 2, 1945, second postmark on reverse of
Camp Carson, Colorado, September 5, 1945.
I believe these were Texas folks, Pvt. Plumlee being stationed
in either Wyoming or Colorado, and Ruby living temporarily
in Cheyenne to be nearby. The letter would probably be classified as a
love letter, but mostly concerns Ruby's concerns at not hearing
from Clyde and their plans for his upcoming furlough.

Imagine my surprise to find a second letter a year later in another
Smithville, Texas antique shop. This letter is dated two days after the
one above,
postmarked Cheyenne, WY, and second postmark on reverse of Sept. 5, 1945.
The contents of this letter again takes Clyde to task for not communicating
quickly enough to suit Ruby.

Purchased in Katy, Texas.
Two ration books from World War II, both containing some ration stamps.
On the left, a book issued to Virginia A. Beshear of Waco, Texas.
On the right, a book issued to Matthew A. Wood of Waco, Texas.

Purchased on EBAY, this intact 5 page
letter is from Mrs. C. N. Shoemake of
Texas City, Texas, posted 10 days after the explosions of April 16, 1947,
and addressed to Mrs. W. T. Lassiter of Paris, Texas.
The letter recounts the events following the explosion. Following is an
extract:
"...While I was running behind a two-story house, a huge piece of that ship fell
on top
of it, went through and buried itself in the ground. That's how close to
death all of us were.
Most of the terminal folks is gone....I know it's through the mercy of God that
we are all here."

The following funeral notices and 25th
wedding anniversary invitation
were purchased in Smithville, Texas.
